Tap Dance

To the right is my poster on Tap Dance, for an Integrated Arts project.

Process

For this Integrated Arts project, we could choose to present in any creative way possible, on either the Khon, Tap Dance or 2 out of 3 of the Courante, Gigue or Allemand. I chose to present on Tap as I have always had an interest in it and wanted to learn more. Some challenges I faced in the midst of doing the project were that since I had almost no prior knowledge on the dance, I struggled to decipher true from false information online. After careful contemplation, I decided to consult my friend Phoebe, who has been learning Tap Dance for more than 8 years. She helped provide me with vital informaton for my poster, and even lent me her old Tap Shoes to share with the class!

Reflections

Overall, I feel like I've gained knowledge on something completely new to me, and this project has shined a new light on different art forms. I'll definitely look forward to learning more about this in the future, and I know there's so many more aspects of this dance that I haven't yet uncovered. I could improve on being more confident during the presentation, and instead of reading off my poster, preparing a script.

Peer Evaluation

My friend Danielle had presented on Tap Dance too, and read out an essay she wrote. Here is some feedback I gave her: I think that while she was presenting, she should have prepared a script or cue cards to follow instead of reading straight off the essay. While presenting, I think she should been more confident in herself and project her voice more. In terms of the content of her presentation, I think that she could have focused more on relating tap dance to music instead of the history of tap dance. Overall, it wasn't a bad presentation and I learnt a lot on what I should improve on myself.
