My First Lunchtime Concert
This was my first time performing in a lunchtime concert, and I sang the piece An Die Musik by Franz Schubert.
Challenges
Prior to the performance, I realised that often when I was nervous I would easily forget my words. I knew I had worked hard on the piece and had memorised the words months before so this problem had come as a surprise to me. To conquer this, I persistently looked at my words, even seconds being going on stage. After all this, I realised that all I had to was relax and the words came easily. It has taught me not to think to much about small details and be more confident in myself as if I stress out it's unecessary pressure added.
My Performance
Reflections
Areas I think I can improve on are to make my vowels wider when I sing , so as to sound more classical. I need to work on projecting my voice more too, as the piano overshadowed my voice several times. As for stage presence, I should have smiled more as to follow with the meaning of the song. Having my friends Rachel, Charlotte and Nicole perform with me definitely helped calm most of my nerves and helped a lot with my confidence as well.
